Within the Executive Management Division, the Interpretation and Conference Services (ICS) provide the services that host NATO’s core business – the daily consultation among nations. It includes all the components found in established International Organisations for the provision of modern conference services, including bookings, planning and coordination, and the provision of technical audiovisual and VTC support, room preparation and interpretation for all official NATO languages and others on request.
The incumbents provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation of the highest quality from and into English and French for meetings at NATO Headquarters (HQ) and on missions abroad to which they are assigned. They deliver interpretation which is faithful to the original while remaining aware of political and cultural sensitivities. The incumbents also provide support to the Interpretation Service as a whole and assist in various interpretation-related activities as required.
The incumbent must among others:
- hold a university degree in a relevant field of study from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification (e.g interpretation, translation, journalism, etc..);
- have experience as a simultaneous conference interpreter, interpreting from English to French and French to English;
- possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): VI (“Proficiency”) in both;
- demonstrate flexibility and strong drive for teamwork and diversity.
